Do Your Part
These steps will help reduce your impact on Georgia’s air quality:
- Drive less. Walk, bike or take transit to your destination.
- Fill up your vehicle in the evening: 8:00 p.m. or later.
- Do not idle your vehicle longer than 30 seconds.
- Combine errands into one trip.
- Turn off appliances, including lights, when not in use.
- Change incandescent light bulbs to compact fluorescent ones.
- Purchase local food. This reduces the amount of fuel required to ship food.
- Shift your thermostat 1-3 degrees warmer in summer months (and 1-3 degrees cooler in winter months) to cut your cooling (and heating) needs … and to save money on your bill.
Help protect you and your family from smog and soot:
- Limit outdoor activity.
- Sign up for smog alerts on Clean Air Campaign’s web site.
- Travel during non-peak times.
